Darr - movie

March 21st 2008 00:56
One of the earliest bollywood movies i have watched is thriller Darr (translation: Fear). Darr is a bollywood film created in 1993, starring bollywood superstar ShahRukh Khan (he’s been in the industry for 16 years). Starring besides ShahRukh is breathtaking beauty Juhi Chawla. Darr is a 'must watch' film. It contains masala, suspense, suprise, and twists making the viewer wanting more. Shahrukh plays the role of Rahul, whos obsessed with an old time college student Kiran. Kiran is engaged to sunny but that doesn't stop Rahul's attempts to make Kiran his. Rahul stalks Kiran to the point of insanity while beefy marine Suniel (Sunny Deol) does all he can to protect his damsel in distress. Rahul’s psychotic mind is displayed to the viewers as they are taken on the journey from Kiran’s first encounter with the stalker (with phonecalls) to the extent of making her life a living misery. ShahRukh Khan plays his role with charisma and convincing as he plays the disturbed wannabe lover. Ladies will feel more drawn to the sexy stalker due to that charisma. Juhi Chawla plays the role of Kiran with such innocence, charm, and authenticy that viewers empathise with her. And Sunny does his best playing the macho lover filled with wit and testosterone levels so high that he could respresent the marine team (no need for more members)! Anupam Kher plays Kiran’s brother (the dad from bend it like beckham) but the downside of his character is the constant obsession with cricket which dominate most of his dialogue and doesn’t fit in with the film’s theme.

The movie song tracks are excellent, with catchy songs such as Tu Mere samne and jadoo teri nazar. The holi song displays Rahul’s state of mind, as he furiously plays the drums while watching Kiran dance. Bollywood fans, especially Shahrukh fans, will enjoy watching Darr, a film from his early film career. Darr is available with subtitles

Wow -- sounds like a great flick. I've not seen too many Bollywood films but I've loved what I have seen.

Is Khan the guy who was just jailed for a robbery or terrorist attack or something?

Darr is a really good film, it's a good watch and one of his early career films. I personally believe it could be considered a classic as it's a film that'll last through time and appeal to all generations.
Khan hasn't been in trouble with the law.
